About Rambl

About Rambl

Britain, slowly explored.

Rambl is an independent UK countryside publication about walking, landscapes, villages, historic places, folklore, outdoor gear and the pleasure of taking the long way round.

What Rambl is for

Rambl began with practical walking and wild-camping guides. It now ranges more widely across the British countryside: old churches, ruined abbeys, market towns, gardens, coast, woodland, local history and the stories attached to particular places.

The aim is simple: useful information with enough character to make you want to go outside and see the place for yourself.

How the site is run

Rambl is independently run and edited in the UK. Articles are researched from relevant primary and reputable secondary sources, and practical guides are reviewed as details change.

We do not pretend to have visited, tested or personally used something when we have not. Where an article is based on research rather than first-hand experience, it should say so plainly.

Recommendations and affiliate links

Some gear and travel pages contain affiliate links. If a reader buys or books through one of those links, Rambl may receive a commission at no extra cost to the reader. Affiliate relationships do not turn a product or place into a personal recommendation, and they should never be presented as first-hand testing unless that testing actually happened.
